El-Forest AB

New generation forestry machinery

El-Forest AB was established in 2006 with the aim of developing the world’s first forestry machine using series electric hybrid technology. In June 2010 Fouriertransform AB invested SEK 20 million in the company through a rights issue, making it the largest individual shareholder.  Other shareholders include Volvo Technology Transfer and the company’s two founders, Lennart Lundström and Roger Gustavsson. The business is based in Örnsköldsvik.

Fouriertransform’s investment will allow El-Forest to begin series production of an entirely new type of forwarder (a forestry machine that carries felled logs from the stump to a roadside landing) which has already attracted a great deal of attention in the forestry industry.

Brief product description

El-Forest’s new electric hybrid technology could revolutionize the market for forestry machinery. The forwarder developed by the company is operated by a new concept in machinery in which each individual wheel is driven by electric motors fitted to the wheel axles. The patented technology is more efficient, provides a greater load capacity and at the same time results in a lighter vehicle. The turning radius is only half that of a conventional forwarder.

El-Forest’s technology thereby contributes to reducing fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, while the vehicle’s lighter weight also causes less damage to the forest area.
