Fouriertransform invests in Applied Nano Surfaces Sweden AB

Fouriertransform is investing around SEK 9 million through a private placement in Uppsala company Applied Nano Surfaces Sweden AB, which has developed an innovative process technology to reduce friction losses in mechanical systems.

Fouriertransform is participating in the private placement alongside other existing shareholders, including Sjätte AP-Fonden (Sixth AP Fund). Following the private placement issue, Fouriertransform will be the single largest shareholder.

“The investment in Applied Nano Surfaces and its friction reducing technology is in line with our investment focus as the technology helps reduce CO2 emissions. The company has succeeded in attracting large development customers and, through our investment, we now want to ensure that the technology can be commercialized in cooperation with these customers and also help the company successfully penetrate the large potential markets,” says Per Nordberg, CEO of Fouriertransform.

Applied Nano Surfaces originated from research carried out at the Ångström Laboratory in Uppsala and is now working on half a dozen development projects in cooperation with vehicle manufacturers and tier 1 suppliers where significant friction reduction in, for example, engine components such as cylinder linings has been demonstrated.

Applied Nano Surfaces Sweden AB was formed in 2007 and currently has six employees. The capital injected will be used to continue to commercialize the process technology in cooperation with key customers.
